Frozen

This work was created using a technique similar to a slit-scan camera. In this process, the pixels of an image are stretched to form frames that compose a video sequence. The photograph used as the source image was originally taken during Peripheral Vision, a performance that occurred in the same room four years prior to where this piece was later projected in 2023. Similarly, the sound, recorded during the performance, is manipulated by extending a single frequency over several minutes.


The difference in length between the video and the music enables a constantly renewed audio-visual experience

Un-Frozen is a collaborative work by Christophe Fellay and Marie-Noële Guex, extending their exploration of memories and traces. This piece was created using elements recorded in previous performances transformed into new sounds frozen in time.


Thie piece was part of Frozen, and installation first exhibited at 601Artspace, New York in 2023.
